3. Social EventsThe social events organised by the VHSS are intended to promote communication among member companies. They also help to achieve recognition of the ship broker business in political circles and in society as a whole as an important element in the maritime economy. The most important annual event in the calendar is the Eisbeinessen; this has become the largest social event in the shipping world, bringing together all the major players for the traditional Eisbeinessen (dinner featuring knuckle of pork). The dialogue among member companies is also promoted in the framework of the Annual General Meeting. 4. Freight CommitteeThe Freight Committee is a grouping of 70 liner agencies, which send 2-weekly reports of all outstanding amounts where payment is overdue. The reports are evaluated at the office, and the matter is discussed in a working committee, which decides on appropriate action against late payers. Members are informed of the results by circular letter. |
